Callings: The Book

What's the last good book that you read? What's the last book that changed your life?

At the spring conference, you'll have the opportunity to witness firsthand one of the nation's most engaging authors in the realm of vocational discernment.

Gregg Levoy is no stranger to critical acclaim. Check out some of the reviews for his book, Callings: Finding and Following an Authentic Life.

"Absolutely superb. A tremendous book. I was stunned by it. Callings strikes right to the soul. It's like the remembrance of everything you knew but then forgot." - Jean Houston, author of The Possible Human and A Mythic Life

"Ravishing! This book is going to charge off the shelves. It's the kind of book people call each other about to share favorite passages. A book to savor." - Booklist

"Callings can help you discover your true vocation and help you hear the still small voice that calls you by name." - Sam Keen, Ph.D., author of Fire in the Belly and Hymns to an Unknown God

"Gregg Levoy offers a discerning eye for peering into one's life to translate the recurring symptoms of refusing the inner voices, to gather the courage to answer what calls. He does this with good writing, humor, and a strong clarion voice." - Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D., author of Women Who Run with the Wolves

"Callings is elegantly researched, beautifully written, and intelligently uplifting. It works brilliantly." - Spirit at Work newsletter

"Callings is the best book I know for er-working the way we work." - Jeff Berner, contributing editor, Work at Home magazine

Keynote Gregg Levoy

Have you heard about our Keynote speaker yet?

Gregg Levoy is the author of
Callings: Finding and Following An Authentic Life (Random House). As you may have guessed, our Spring Conference theme borrows heavily from the subject matter of Gregg's book: how to hear and respond to a calling, and how to live a life of authenticity.

We are excited about exploring this topic further with our colleagues since it is applicable for both our professional lives and the lives of our students. It also seems timely because of the current economic downturn and scarcity of historically higher-paying entry-level jobs, and the fact that research has shown that "meaningful work" is a priority for the Millennial generation.

Gregg is also a full-time lecturer and seminar leader, Keynoting conferences for the National Career Development Association (NCDA), the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the International Association of Career Management Professionals (IACMP). He has also presented at workshops for countless universities and corporations.

Callings has been utilized as a text in various graduate programs in Management and Organizational Leadership. Gregg has also written about this subject for the New York Times Magazine, Washington Post, Omni, Psychology Today, Reader's Digest, and many others. He is a former adjunct professor of journalism at the University of New Mexico, and former columnist and reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer and USA Today.
