The conference committee is excited to announce the Fall 2009 CDPI Conference Keynote Speakers.
Teresa L. Voors & Gina DelSanto - Indiana Dept. of Workforce Development
Ms. Voors was appointed as the first female Commissioner of the Indiana Dept. of Workforce Development in 2007. Prior to her appointment, she served as Deputy Commissioner and Chief Counsel of the agency. She received her law degree from IU Bloomington, where she graduated in the top 2% of her class and served as managing editor of the Law Review. Before joining public service, she litigated employment law cases at Baker and Daniels in Indianapolis. She grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and received her bachelor's degree in business accounting from Indiana Purdue University Fort Wayne. She passed the CPA exam and worked as a financial analyst for GTE Data Services in Fort Wayne before attending law school. Commissioner Voors currently lives in Zionsville.
Gina DelSanto is a native of Cranston, Rhode Island and graduated from the University of Rhode Island, majoring in Modern Foreign Languages. She attended graduate school at Indiana University, Bloomington, receiving as MA and a Ph.D. emphasizing critical theory, literature and film, and medieval studies. In 1993, DelSanto accepted a position in the office of U.S. Senator Richard G. Lugar, first as Special Assistant for Affairs of State, Immigration, and Education, and later as Director of Outreach. In 2000, DelSanto joined Butler University as the Director of the Learning Resource Center and subsequently as Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. She served as policy coordinator for the Mitch Daniels for Governor campaign and was a founding member of the Dean's Council for Indiana University's School of Informatics. DelSanto has served as a member of Indiana's Education Roundtable and State Workforce Innovation Council, and is a board member for Goodwill Education Initiatives, the organization holding the charter for the Indianapolis Metropolitan High School.

Green: A Color for All Seasons
Welcome to the CDPI Conference Info Blog! We are busy preparing for this Fall's CDPI Conference, to be held at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN on October 30, 2009. We are excited about all that will take place at this year's conference, and we will be providing you with more details as the date approaches.
This year's theme is "Green: A Color for All Seasons", focusing on Sustainability and all things "Green". From eco-friendly environmental issues facing our society to sustaining the Career Services profession, we plan to offer exciting breakout sessions and a keynote speaker to tie it all together.
More details will follow soon, including information on submitting breakout session proposals and registering for this Fall's conference. Please stay tuned and we look forward to seeing you in Evansville in October!

Meet Our Keynote Speaker - Lindsey Pollak

Lindsey Pollak is an author, speaker and corporate trainer specializing in career development for Generation Y college students and young professionals.
Lindsey writes a top-rated career blog, Lindsey Pollak Blog, and is the Career Contributor for ABC News on Campus. She also contributes columns to FastCompany.com and The Huffington Post. A noted expert on career issues, Lindsey’s advice has been featured in such media outlets as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, CNN.com, Monster.com, Martha Stewart Living Radio, National Public Radio and ABC News America This Morning.
She is the author of the popular career advice book for college students and recent grads, Getting from College to Career: 90 Things to Do Before You Join the Real World (HarperCollins, April 2007) and co-author with Diane K. Danielson of The Savvy Gal’s Guide to Online Networking (Or, What Would Jane Austen Do?).
Lindsey’s professional speaking includes frequent keynote speeches and seminar presentations at universities, conferences and corporations around the country. College audiences have included Amherst, Columbia, Duke, Emory, Harvard, Northwestern, MIT, Syracuse, University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania, UNC-Chapel Hill, USC, UT-Austin and Yale. Conference audiences have included the American Society of Interior Designers, Financial Women’s Association, New York Times Job Market Career Series, the National Association for Campus Activities, the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals and United Jewish Communities National Recruitment Corps.
In her corporate work, Lindsey facilitates training workshops on such topics as managing generational differences, business writing, social networking, personal branding, negotiation and presentation skills. She has worked with such organizations as A&E Television, Citi, Fidelity, Liz Claiborne, MTV Networks, the National Basketball Association, sanofi-aventis, T. Rowe Price and Time Inc. She is affiliated with The Madison Consulting Group and Negotiating Women.
A graduate of Yale University, Lindsey received a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, where she completed a master’s degree in women’s studies. She is a former director of business development for WorkingWoman.com and began her career as a program coordinator for the American Woman’s Economic Development Corporation.

CDPI Spring 2009 Conference Call for Proposals

Share your knowledge and best practices with your colleagues
The committee currently seeks proposals for a wide variety of topics for the Spring 2009 conference to be held on Friday, March 13th, 2009 at Indiana Farm Bureau in Indianapolis, IN.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT MODELS
Do you use a career counseling model? Do you utilize a holistic approach that considers a career as just one part of the bigger picture? What career assessment tools do you find useful in assisting students with their career exploration and development?
SOCIAL NETWORKING
Have you been successful at using facebook or other social networking to connect with students or employers? Do you believe in the power of personal branding? How have you made web 2.0 work for you?
RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES
Employers, career service professionals want to hear from you! What insight can you share with us? How can we prepare students better for internships and the real world? What methods have you found to be successful for communicating with our offices? How can we make your job easier?
GOING GREEN
Are you committed to going green? Do you know of employers in the green industry? What advice do you give students interested in green careers? Has your office gone green? Share your knowledge of the movement to go green with your colleagues. We all want to know!
BEST PRACTICES
Don’t think you have enough information for an entire hour-long session but still have information you would like to share? Share your best practices on ANY TOPIC from employing and training student workers in your office to keys for a model internship programs to working with alumni in a weak economy. Submit your best practice for a short session (10-15 minutes) and the committee will match you with similar proposals.
One more thing! We’re going green in an effort to cut costs and save a tree! All proposals must be submitted via email.
